Tsumkwe: Four suspects arrested in connection with the alleged theft of poles at the Tsumkwe Community Garden situated at the constituency councillor's office appeared before the Tsumkwe provisional court in the Otjozondjupa Region on Monday. The individuals, identified as Lazarus Kauande, 43, Japhet Nganjone, 41, Patrick Murambi, 29, and Rabanus Nganjone, 26, have been charged with malicious damage to state property and theft of poles.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) head of community affairs in the Otjozondjupa Region, Maureen Mbeha, informed that the suspects were granted bail of N.dollars 1,000 each. They are scheduled to appear in court again on 09 June 2025.
A NamPol crime report detailed that the incident took place on Friday when the suspects allegedly drove their vehicle to the Tsumkwe Community Garden with the intention of removing the poles. The report stated that the suspects cut the fence and removed 10 poles of undetermined value without the owner's consent.
All of the stolen poles have since been recovered, and police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
