Pô Observes Flag-Raising Ceremony to Commence 20th National Citizenship Week

Pô - Citizens and active forces of the province of Nahouri in the Central-South region gathered for a flag-raising ceremony in Pô on Monday, October 23, 2023. The event marked the beginning of the 20th edition of National Citizenship Week (SENAC). The ceremony was presided over by the provincial high commissioner, Auguste Kinda.

According to a new release by Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony is one of the many activities planned for the 20th edition of SENAC. This year's theme is “Citizenship in Action for the Reconquest of the National Territory,” aiming to motivate residents to embrace their Burkinabè identity and their individual and collective responsibilities. Additionally, the week seeks to consolidate the sovereignty and promote economic, social, and cultural development in Burkina Faso.

Post the flag-raising, which was performed to the rhythm of the national anthem, High Commissioner Kinda expressed gratitude for the strong turnout, including members of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) from the Pô garrison. Mr. Kinda indicated that the high level of attendance demonstrated the population's commitment to the state symbols and the promotion of civic values.

Further elaborating, High Commissioner Kinda reminded the gathering that the freedoms and dignities they enjoy were won through "failures, successes, sweat and blood." He emphasized that these sacrifices necessitate an ongoing commitment to memory, recognition, vigilance, and particularly actions aimed at preserving the gains made by earlier generations.

Mr. Kinda also extended an invitation to the community to actively participate in other events scheduled for the 20th edition of SENAC. The flag-raising ceremony, he added, occurred simultaneously in other municipalities within the province, marking the official kickoff of SENAC 2023 activities.

A special note was made concerning Narcisse Sia, a resident of the commune of Ziou and CEO of “Confiance Service,” who donated 15 flags to the security and administrative services for the occasion.
