Houet: The commune of P©ni hosted, on Wednesday, an awareness conference on endogenous mechanisms for conflict prevention and management, with a view to strengthening social cohesion and promoting a culture of peace.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting, held in the town hall meeting room, was chaired by the prefect of the department and president of the special delegation (PDS) of the municipality, Moumouni Ou©draogo. He welcomed the choice of P©ni to host this event initiated by the Ministry of Justice, before emphasizing that cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity is an asset that should foster development. He urged the population to cultivate solidarity, forgiveness, integrity, tolerance, and mutual support.
The Director General for the Promotion of Citizenship and Peace, Benjamin Sow, head of the ministerial delegation, presented the fundamental concepts related to conflict. He explained the different types of conflict, their causes, their consequences, as well as the endogenous mechanisms that can contribute to their prevention and management.
The discussions, enriched by testimonies and contributions from participants, highlighted the population's interest in issues of peace and living together. The PDS urged every resident of P©ni to commit to building a peaceful, united community resolutely focused on development.
