Pixley Ka Seme District Celebrates Exceptional Police Service at Annual Excellence Awards

NORTHERN CAPE: The Pixley Ka Seme District, under the leadership of District Commissioner Maj Gen Nomana Mtukushe, hosted its annual District Excellence Awards on November 10, 2023, at the De Aar Town Hall. The event recognized and celebrated the outstanding achievements of local law enforcement officers.

According to South African Police Service, the gala, attended by notable dignitaries including Deputy Provincial Commissioners Maj Gen Henriette De Waal, Maj Gen Luntu Ngubelanga, Maj Gen Mmantsheke Lekhele, and Maj Gen Jacque Raymond, as well as local officials and SAPS members, was an occasion to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of police personnel in maintaining community safety and security.

The evening began with a devotion led by Chaplain SR Kewele, followed by a welcome address from Local Mayor Counsellor L Nkumbi. Maj Gen Mtukushe emphasized the SAPS members’ commitment and hard work in her opening remarks. Messages of support were shared by various representatives, praising the vital role of police officers in ensuring public safety.

Maj Gen Henriette De Waal, delivering the keynote address on behalf of the Provincial Commissioner, expressed immense pride and appreciation for the nominees, highlighting the high caliber of SAPS members.

The winners of the awards were announced in several categories, recognizing individuals and teams for their excellence in administration, visible policing, and detective work. Special awards were also given, including Sportsman of the Year, Woman of the Year, and Best Community Police Forum.

The event also included the District Commissioner’s Special Appreciation Awards, acknowledging exceptional contributions by individual officers. Maj Gen De Waal, who is approaching retirement, received special pre-retirement gifts of appreciation.
