Photographers in Bobo-Dioulasso Receive Professional Training


BOBO-DIOULASSO – The Photot’age Association concluded a six-month training program for photographers in the Hauts-Bassins region on Thursday, February 8, 2024. Aimed at enhancing the professional capabilities of image takers, the program covered theoretical and practical aspects of photography, including its history, legal frameworks in Burkina Faso, and sales techniques.



The training was initiated by the Photot’age Association as part of its ‘photot’age Lab’ project, a professional training incubator for young photographers in the Hauts-Bassins region. This initiative received funding from the Cultural and Tourism Development Fund (FDCT) through the Support Program for Creative Industries and Cultural Governance (PAIC-GC), backed by the European Union.



Participant Yacine Sourabié expressed gratitude for the new perspective the training provided on the photography profession. Siaka Zerbo, president of the Photot’age Association, acknowledged the support from the FDCT and encouraged participants to apply their newly acquired skills to elevate their professional practices.



Furthermore, Zerbo announced plans to organize a photography biennial in Bobo-Dioulasso, demonstrating the association’s commitment to fostering the growth of the photography industry in the region. Issa Barry, head of the FDCT branch in Bobo, commended the project’s success in strengthening photographers’ expertise and urged continuous professional development within the field.
