Windhoek: Telecom Namibia has appointed Armando Perny as the Acting Chief Executive Officer for a one-month period, starting from July 1, 2026. This appointment follows the resignation of the former CEO, Stanley Shanapinda.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the announcement was made by Telecom Namibia Board chairperson Fimanekeni Petrus in a media release on Monday. Petrus emphasized that Perny brings significant experience and a comprehensive understanding of the company's operations and strategic priorities. His leadership aims to ensure continuity and stability while the Board seeks to appoint a permanent CEO.
Petrus expressed the Board's full confidence in Perny's capability to guide the organization through this transitional period, maintaining a focus on delivering value to customers and stakeholders. In addition to this leadership change, Petrus also announced the upcoming contract conclusions for the Chief Commercial Officer, Calvin Muniswaswa, on June 30, 2026, and the Chief Finance Officer, Sharidene Kisting, on September 30, 2026.
The Board and Executive Management expressed gratitude to both executives for their leadership and contributions throughout their tenure at Telecom Namibia. Interim arrangements for the CCO and CFO positions will be communicated soon, adhering to the company's governance frameworks and succession planning processes. Recruitment for these roles will begin in alignment with approved company policies.
Petrus reiterated Telecom Namibia's commitment to operational excellence, financial stewardship, and executing its strategic mandate. He assured stakeholders that the leadership team continues to function effectively, remaining focused on delivering value to customers, employees, and shareholders.
Stanley Shanapinda, the outgoing CEO, stepped down effective July 1, 2026, to take up the role of Executive Secretary of the Communications Regulators' Association of Southern Africa, based in Gaborone, Botswana.
