Gibeon: The body of an elderly man was allegedly found hanging from a tree at Helena Pieters location in Gibeon on Sunday. The discovery was allegedly made by two boys who were heading to a shop. They then alerted nearby residents.

According to Namibia Press Agency, a report released on Monday confirmed the incident through John Mwatongwe, The Namibian Police Force's Crime Investigations Coordinator in the Hardap Region. 'Upon the arrival of the police, together with hospital personnel, the deceased was examined and declared dead at the scene,' Mwatongwe said.

The deceased was identified as 71-year-old Eduard Richeter. No foul play is suspected, and the body was transported to the Mariental State Hospital's mortuary. Police investigations continue.
