Windhoek: A 70-year-old Namibian man was defrauded of N. dollars 170,080.00 after a suspect impersonating a bank official obtained his bank PIN under false pretenses at Nubuamis Hills in Brakwater on Friday afternoon.
According to Namibia Press Agency, the incident occurred at around 15h25. No arrest has been made, and the stolen money has not been recovered. Police investigations continue. This was announced by Kauna Shikwambi in a crime report issued on Sunday.
In a separate incident on the same day at around 19h50 in Eros, a suspect allegedly smashed the left window of a parked vehicle using an unknown object and stole an iPhone 12 Pro Max valued at N. dollars 20,700.00. No recovery or arrest has been made.
In another unrelated incident, a 34-year-old Namibian man was arrested at around 14h30 at the B1 City Complex service station in the capital after police intercepted a parcel containing cannabis, ecstasy tablets, and mushrooms (psilocybin/psilocin) valued at N. dollars 5,900.00. The parcel was discovered when a seven-seater traveling from Swakopmund was stopped and searched at the Okapuka traffic checkpoint.
