Peni Departmental High School Triumphs in Second Inter-School Tournament

Houet: The commune of Peni was energized on Saturday, April 11, 2026, as the Peni Departmental High School (LDP) was crowned champion in the finale of the second edition of the inter-school tournament. The event took place under the auspices of Mr. Moumouni Ouedraogo, President of the special delegation of the commune.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the LDP, decked in red, narrowly defeated Tiefo Amoro Private High School with a scoreline of 1-0, capturing the trophy and highlighting the vibrancy of school sports in the region. The victory not only brought pride to the school but also demonstrated the competitive spirit among the youth.

Following the match, the organizing committee presented the victorious teams with substantial awards. The champion, LDP, received a prize of 100,000 FCFA, medals, a ball, and a set of jerseys. The runner-up was awarded 75,000 FCFA, medals, a ball, and a set of jerseys. The team finishing in third place took home 30,000 FCFA and a ball, while a Fair Play award, valued at 25,000 FCFA and a ball, was also given.

The arbitration committee was acknowledged with a grant of 50,000 FCFA for its crucial role in facilitating the competition.

The day also featured a women's cycling race, with prizes awarded to participants, underscoring the organizing committee's commitment to broadening sports disciplines and encouraging young girls to engage in sports.

Ouattara Moussa, chairman of the organizing committee, expressed his appreciation to everyone involved in making the event a success. He congratulated the Peni Departmental High School and encouraged all participants, noting that the ultimate victory lies with the students.

The tournament, themed "Sport, a pillar in the fight against social ills", aimed to foster unity among school children through football while promoting messages of peace, coexistence, and social cohesion.
