Pedal of Peace Initiative Supports Local Defense Volunteers in Ioba with Fuel Vouchers


IOBA – In a gesture aimed at bolstering local security efforts, the Pedal of Peace (PDP) organizing committee presented fuel vouchers to the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP) in Dano, Ioba. The presentation, which took place on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, saw the first vice-president of the special delegation municipality of Dano, Aristide Youorikiè Dabiré, receiving vouchers valued at 126,000 CFA francs.



According to Burkina Information Agency, president of the prize commission of the PDP organizing committee, the initiative was part of the eighth edition of the Pedal of Peace. The ceremony, held at the Dano town hall, was attended by notable figures including the commander of the Dano territorial gendarmerie brigade, chief warrant officer Olivier Coulibaly, and the provincial head of the Ioba VDP, police officer Souleymane Yaméogo.



The fuel vouchers are intended to aid the municipal VDPs in their territorial security operations. This financial support was gathered during the cycling race of the 34th edition of the PDP on December 2, 2023, an event orchestrated by the ambassador of Burkina Faso to the Republic of Turkey, Brigadier General Vinta Somé, who is also the promoter of the PDP.



Yéhoun highlighted that the fuel allocation is crucial for enabling the VDPs to maintain safety and security within their jurisdiction. The PDP, he mentioned, seeks to foster peace through sports activities. Dabiré expressed appreciation for the donation, noting its significance in facilitating the VDP’s responsibilities. He extended his gratitude to all the contributors, including the promoter, the general police station, and the organizing committee of the PDP, for their patriotic support.
