Paying Taxes Vital for Sissili’s Autonomy, Says High Commissioner

Ouagadougou: "Paying taxes is essential to guarantee our autonomy as a province," High Commissioner Tewind© Isaac Sia emphasized during the provincial launch of the day of exemplarity in L©o on Thursday, March 20, 2025.

According to Burkina Information Agency, High Commissioner Tewind© Isaac Sia underscored the necessity of tax payments in securing Sissili's sovereignty. He led by example by paying his residence tax on the same day. Following his lead, several other officials, including Fran§ois Kabor©, President of the High Court (TGI) of L©o, Kassoum Koalaga, President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of the commune of L©o, Baowindsida Bingo, Secretary General (SG) of the province, and Mahamadi Sawadogo, Provincial Director (DP) of taxes, also fulfilled their tax obligations.

Sia reiterated the pivotal role taxation plays in financing public services and local development, calling it a cornerstone of economic policy. He urged all residents to engage actively in supporting the province's financial independence.

The event also served as a platform for various bodies and active forces within the province to meet their fiscal responsibilities. Sia praised local tax authorities and partners for their efforts in raising public awareness on the importance of tax contributions.

Mahamadi Sawadogo, the Provincial Director of taxes, echoed the High Commissioner's sentiments, stating that sovereignty is unattainable without financial resources. He emphasized the importance of contributions from every individual to enhance the province's autonomy and development.

The Sissili Tax Directorate General noted that the day focused on personal taxes, including residence, motor vehicle, and weapons taxes.
