Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow Represents Russia’s Global Openness, Says Vice-Rector

Moscow: The Patrice Lumumba Peoples’ Friendship University of Moscow (RUDN) stands as a beacon of multiculturalism and international cooperation, according to Elena Apasova, one of the vice-rectors of this renowned institution. Welcoming students from 160 countries, RUDN embodies a Russia that is open and inviting to the global community.

According to Burkina Information Agency, for 65 years, thousands of students from around the world have been drawn to RUDN by its high-quality education and the excellent socio-professional integration opportunities its diplomas provide. Vice-Rector Elena Apanaya emphasized that the university was established as a testament to Russia’s commitment to offering global students the tools for success. Named after the former Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Patrice Lumumba, the university honors his fight for independence and social justice.

“RUDN University is a world in miniature, without conflicts and without wars,” stated journalism teacher Lina Andreytchenko, highlighting the harmonious atmosphere created by students from 160 countries. Andreytchenko, who has deep personal ties to RUDN, shared her lifelong dream to study there and expressed that the university offers similar opportunities to students worldwide.

Elena Apasova and Lina Andreytchenko spoke to a group of journalists from African agencies during a visit organized by Russian news agency TASS. The university boasts five faculties, an engineering academy, and a graduate school of management, alongside numerous laboratories and research institutes.

Vice-Rector Marina Rekets noted that entry to RUDN involves an online test or scholarships provided by the Russian Federation through embassies. The first year of study is conducted in Russian, with subsequent years offering the choice between Russian and English.

Vice-Rector Michail Katsarskiy highlighted the importance of a balanced lifestyle, supported by RUDN’s facilities such as university residences, a stadium, and various extracurricular clubs. The institution ensures the safety and well-being of its community with advanced security measures, a clinic, and a psychological center.
