Parliament to Introduce New Number Plates for Legislative Vehicles

WINDHOEK: The Parliament of Namibia announced a change in the vehicle identification system for the National Assembly and National Council. Starting from January 1, 2024, these vehicles will feature green number plates with specific abbreviations.

According to Namibia Press Agency (NAMPA), the new number plates will display ‘LNA’ for Legislature National Assembly and ‘LNC’ for Legislature National Council. This change aims to clearly distinguish the vehicles of the legislative body, aligning with the separation of powers principle among the State’s organs. The statement highlighted the unique role of Parliament in overseeing the executive branch’s activities and emphasized that the new number plates would make it easier for the public to recognize vehicles associated with the legislature.
