Ouagadougou: The parish of Saint Ther¨se of the Child Jesus of Kokologho celebrated its 40th anniversary of the dedication of its parish church on Sunday, July 12. This milestone event was observed by AIB and coincided with a thanksgiving mass for two newly ordained priests from the locality.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the newly ordained priests, Father Remi Nikiema and Father Theophile Kabre, celebrated their first solemn mass with the parish community, marking a significant spiritual occasion. The celebration was led by Bishop Alexandre Bazie, Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Koudougou, and included the participation of Father Jean-Marie Korbeogo, the parish priest, Father Sylvain Yameogo, representative of the Missionaries of Africa, and a large group of concelebrating priests.
The event witnessed a large turnout, including worshippers, administrative and traditional authorities, and representatives from other religious denominations. A delegation from Ghana also attended, expressing solidarity with the Kokologho community.
In addition to the religious service, attendees had the opportunity to explore the recently renovated and expanded parish building. With a new seating capacity exceeding 5,000, the church has become a modernized centerpiece for the diocese.
The 40th anniversary celebration featured a variety of spiritual, sporting, and recreational activities, which served to strengthen the bonds among the parish community. In support of the newly ordained priests, parishioners presented numerous gifts and expressions of gratitude, underscoring their commitment to the priests' new mission.
Through this dual celebration, the Christian community of Kokologho marks an important chapter in its history, reaffirming its dedication to evangelization and service within the city.
