Parish of Our Lady of the Assumption of Tougan Celebrates New Year’s with Community

Sourou: The parish of Our Lady of the Assumption of Tougan organized a New Year's greetings ceremony on Sunday, January 26, 2026, for Christian faithful and the entire population of the town. The event was attended by the High Commissioner of Sourou Province, D©sir© Badolo, along with several administrative and local authorities. Father Beno®t Tiendrebeogo, representing the Bishop of the Diocese of D©dougou, His Excellency Bishop Prosper Bonaventure KI, was also present.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the chairman of the organizing committee, S©raphin Ou©draogo, stated that the initiative aims to strengthen social cohesion and foster unity between the Christian community and the broader population. He emphasized the importance of living together harmoniously despite ethnic and religious differences.

During the ceremony, the parish priest, Father Daniel Zerbo, who served as the patron of the event, extended blessings and prayed for peace and security in Sourou and the entire national territory. He encouraged attendees to embody values of goodness, social cohesion, peace, solidarity, love, truth, freedom, and loyalty.

Representing the Bishop of D©dougou, Father Beno®t Tiendrebeogo commended the resilience of the Christian faithful and the people of Tougan. He expressed hope for the return of internally displaced persons to their villages in 2026.

The High Commissioner of Sourou Province praised the parish's initiative, congratulated the organizers on the successful event, and called on the community to continue striving for peace and social cohesion in the province.
