Parish of Djibasso Celebrates Feast of Saint Paul, Patron Saint of Ourouko

Djibasso: The parish of Djibasso celebrated the feast of Saint Paul, patron saint of the village of Ourouko, this Sunday, January 25, 2025, in an atmosphere of prayer, communion, and fraternity. The solemn Mass was presided over by Father Bertin Naboho, administrator of the parish of Bomborokuy and bursar of the Diocese of Nouna.

According to Burkina Information Agency, in his homily, Father Bertin Naboho invited the Catholic faithful to follow the example of the Apostle Saint Paul, allowing themselves to be transformed by repentance and a sincere conversion of heart. Drawing on the life of Saint Paul, once a persecutor of Christians before his decisive encounter with Christ, Father Naboho exhorted the faithful to abandon behaviors contrary to the Gospel in order to walk the path of faith and righteousness.

As a reminder, the Catholic faithful of Ourouko have entrusted their village to the protection of Saint Paul since 1991. When asked about the choice of this saint as the village's patron saint, Lucien Demb©l©, one of the church elders, explained that "compared to Saint Paul, who was unbearable before repenting, the inhabitants of our village have not always been easy to live with. That is why we chose him, so that he may guide our steps toward the right path."

The celebration saw a large turnout with many members of the Christian Alliance church present, as well as civil servants, including members of the teaching staff of Ourouko, thus demonstrating the spirit of cohesion and living together that reigns within the community. This day was also marked by the celebration of the Missionary Child, recalling the importance of children's involvement in the life of the Church and the transmission of Christian values from a very young age.

The Feast of Saint Paul thus remains a powerful moment of faith and gathering for the people of Ourouko, strengthening their spiritual and communal bonds around their patron saint.
