Paramilitary Forces Accused of Killing 20 in Western Sudan Attack

CAIRO — A violent attack by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary group in North Kordofan State, western Sudan, has left 20 people dead and three others injured, according to a statement from the non-governmental Sudanese Doctors Network.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the incident occurred in Al-Dammokia village, approximately 30 kilometers east of El-Obeid, the state capital. The victims reportedly include elderly individuals and children. Details surrounding the attack remain limited, and the RSF has not yet issued a statement regarding the allegations.

This latest violence is part of an ongoing conflict that erupted on April 15, 2023, between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the RSF, which has so far resulted in about 20,000 deaths, numerous injuries, and the displacement of millions of people, per the latest figures from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
