P´ Remand Center Receives Generous Donations from Muslim Community

Nahouri: The residents of the P´ remand center provided with food and non-food items from the Muslim community of P´. The office of the Muslim community of P´ offered, on Monday, January 20, 2025, food and non-food items to the residents of the House of Arrest and Correction of P´ (MAC-P€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬) and the staff who work there.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the president of the office of the Muslim community of P´, El Hadj Abdoulaye Gnan©, led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the P´ remand and correction center. The visit aimed to understand the working conditions of the staff, assess the premises, and offer prayers for the detainees. The delegation presented a donation consisting mainly of food, mats, clothes, soap, and benches.

The president, El Hadj Abdoulaye Gnan©, mentioned that the donation was made possible through contributions from the members of the office. She also announced plans to initiate further fundraising campaigns in all mosques to continue supporting the residents.

The director of the P´ remand and correction center, Assetou Ouattara, expressed gratitude for the gesture from the Muslim community. She emphasized the importance of spiritual support for prisoners, highlighting how it could provide moral and spiritual comfort during their stay. Mrs. Ouattara noted that donations of food, clothing, and hygiene products are vital for improving the living conditions of the residents.

She further stated that the establishment's presence is significant for the people of Nahouri, as it allows prisoners to remain close to their families. Prior to the visit from the Muslim community, the provincial management in charge of Humanitarian Action of Nahouri had donated six boxes of soap and OMO to the residents of MAC-P€š¬…¡¬‚¬¦¡¬. The prison structure welcomed its first inmates in November 2024.
