Owalo Leads Inspection of Coastal Infrastructure Projects, Assesses Progress and Challenges.

Mombasa: Deputy Chief of Staff in the Executive Office of the President, Eliud Owalo, has embarked on an inspection tour of key infrastructure projects in Mombasa and Lamu. The initiative aims to gather firsthand information about ongoing construction activities and assess the status of existing projects.

According to Kenya News Agency, Owalo stated that the visit would provide opportunities to address challenges faced by contractors and affected communities. He emphasized the government’s commitment to delivering high-quality projects efficiently and within budget. Accompanied by Gender and Affirmative Action Principal Secretary Anne Wang’ombe and other officials, Owalo reiterated the government’s dedication to improving infrastructure to alleviate economic hardships.

The inspection tour included visits to significant projects such as the Sh. 54 billion Dongo Kundu Bypass Highway and the Sh. 40 billion Mombasa Special Economic Zone Development Project. Owalo interacted with engineers and contractors, urgin
g them to expedite project completion. He highlighted the importance of the Dongo Kundu Bypass in alleviating traffic congestion and enhancing trade and tourism.

Owalo expressed satisfaction with the progress of most projects, though he noted legal issues affecting the Liwatoni Fishing Complex. Anne Wang’ombe affirmed the government’s commitment to completing the projects to enhance the quality of life for Kenyans.
