Over a Thousand Residents Benefit from Free Medical Camp in Iria-ini, Othaya

OTHAYA — More than a thousand residents of Iria-ini ward in Othaya, Nyeri County, have benefited from a free medical camp organized by Mwai Kibaki Hospital in partnership with Othaya MP Wambugu Wainaina. The camp, held at Thunguri Dispensary in Iria-ini ward, offered screenings for diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, and cancer.

According to Kenya News Agency, The medical camp was part of a broader effort to enhance disease prevention and control in the area. MP Wainaina, speaking during the event, commended the hospital for its initiative and encouraged residents to regularly undergo screening for various lifestyle diseases. He stressed the importance of staying medically fit and up to date with health screenings.

The event, which drew residents from Thunguri and neighboring areas, also saw Dr. Walter Gwaro from the Level VI facility advise patients on the importance of adhering to prescribed medication. He warned against the dangers of deviating from medical advice.

MP Wainaina also called on the County Government of Nyeri to improve medical facilities, particularly those near educational institutions, to benefit students. He expressed gratitude to the medical staff from Mwai Kibaki Hospital, the local KMTC fraternity, and Othaya Level IV Hospital for their support in organizing and participating in the camp.

The beneficiaries of the camp thanked the hospital management and the MP for organizing the event, especially during challenging economic times.
