Luanda: At least 742 companies across the country have regularized the national minimum wage of 100,000 kwanzas during the "Fair Wage" campaign, the Minister of Public Administration, Labor and Social Security, Teresa Rodrigues Dias, announced on Thursday.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the month-long campaign aimed to ensure the effective compliance with the national minimum wage and supplementary remuneration, as provided for in the General Labor Law. The initiative was part of a broader effort to uphold workers' rights and strengthen labor practices across the nation.
The minister stressed that, during the aforementioned period, it was found that 595 companies were in non-compliance with matters related to the national minimum wage. This discovery highlighted the ongoing challenges in enforcing wage regulations and ensuring fair compensation for all workers.
She said the campaign covered a total of 18,926 workers, of which 13,020 were men and 5,906 were women from 695 companies. This extensive reach underscores the campaign's significant impact on the workforce and its role in promoting gender equity within labor practices.
The 'Fair Wage 2025' initiative took place throughout the country under the motto 'Complying with the minimum wage is to dignify the worker' and involved 200 technicians for its implementation. The campaign's success in rallying companies to adhere to wage standards marks a significant step toward improving labor conditions nationwide.
