Over 600 Boucle du Mouhoun Students Engage in Anti-Corruption Awareness Campaign

BOUCLE DU MOUHOUN — In a robust demonstration of civic engagement, over 600 students from the Boucle du Mouhoun region participated in an awareness campaign aimed at combating corruption, with a particular focus on understanding the laws governing the prevention and repression of corruption in Burkina Faso.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this educational initiative saw the involvement of students from public high schools in Tcheriba, Safané, Ouri, and the private Notre Dame de la Consolation school. The campaign was orchestrated by the Higher Authority for State Control and the Fight Against Corruption (ASCE-LC), with support from the Burkinabè Network of Young Leaders for Integrity (RBJLI).

The event shed light on the national corruption prevention framework, identifying key organizations tasked with combating corruption and outlining fundamental ethical standards and behaviors expected in public service. Governance and organizational management specialist Ollo Ko Da, serving as a project leader for RBJLI, urged students to take a proactive stance against corruption, emphasizing the importance of integrity and the necessity of reporting corrupt activities.

Da further outlined plans to establish monitoring units within these educational institutions to facilitate the reporting of corruption and fraud incidents, aiming to nurture a culture of integrity that would prepare students to be part of a future generation committed to ethical governance. These educational efforts align with the broader national agenda set by President Ibrahim Traoré, who has unequivocally labeled corruption as a severe offense, akin to theft and deceit, necessitating vigorous opposition.
