Wote: More than 55,000 students in Makueni County are gearing up to sit for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and Kenya Primary Education Assessment (KPSEA) national examinations this year, according to the County Director of Education, Charles Nyakundi.
According to Kenya News Agency, Nyakundi stated that 30,330 students, comprising 15,523 girls and 14,807 boys, will participate in the KCSE exams scheduled from November 4 to November 22, 2024, at various locations across the county. The preparation for the exams involves a team of 428 center managers, 442 supervisors, and 1,646 invigilators, ensuring comprehensive oversight, including private schools in the region.
Nyakundi assured that the necessary arrangements have been made to conduct the exams as planned, highlighting the role of teachers in supervising and the government’s provision of adequate security for the process. He noted that exams in subjects like French, Arabic, Music, German, and Home Science (practical) have been complet
ed smoothly. The rehearsal for KCSE students is scheduled for November 1, 2024.
For the KPSEA, Nyakundi disclosed that 25,152 students, including 11,969 girls and 13,183 boys, are registered to sit for the exams from October 28 to 30, with rehearsals set for October 25. The exams will be held in 975 centers staffed by 960 managers, 904 supervisors, and 1,801 invigilators, encompassing both public and private institutions.
Nyakundi explained that examination papers would be distributed from 20 secure containers placed strategically across the county’s 10 sub-counties.
