Over 300 Arrested for Traffic Violations in Bobo-Dioulasso

Bobo-Dioulasso: More than 300 individuals were apprehended in Bobo-Dioulasso this Tuesday for a range of traffic violations and subsequently required to perform community service.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the offenses largely consisted of ignoring traffic lights, performing dangerous stunts on public roads, and disregarding road signs, particularly stop signs. The operation was a collaborative effort by the defense and security forces (FDS) aimed at combating road incivility in the city of Sya. Since the commencement of this operation, offenders have cleaned approximately 500 meters of gutters under the sun.

Among those punished was Jeta Ch©rifa Camara, a student who ran a red light. She expressed the difficulty of the punishment, stating, "It's hard. I'm really tired. I don't advise you to run a red light." She urged her fellow citizens to be more civic-minded, emphasizing the importance of adhering to traffic signals. "Respect traffic lights. It's really not a good idea to run them. For refusing to stop for even a minute, I'm being forced to do a day of community service," she said.

By about 3 p.m., those who had been sanctioned were released, each tasked with finding their way home.
