Over 10,000 New Businesses Launched in Burkina Faso in First Half of 2024

OUAGADOUGOU — Burkina Faso has witnessed the establishment of over 10,000 new businesses in the first six months of 2024, as announced by Serge Poda, the Minister in charge of trade and industry. This significant increase reflects growing investor confidence in the nation’s economic climate.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the surge in business creation within the trade and industry sectors is a clear indicator of the strengthening business environment in Burkina Faso. “So there are measures that have been taken by the government to facilitate this business climate,” he explained. The minister shared these insights while speaking at the biannual evaluation session of the objective contracts of various ministries in Ouagadougou.

The Ministry of Trade and Industry reported an execution rate of 62.05% of its objectives for the mid-term review, set by the head of government. The primary activities during this period focused on enhancing trade through initiatives aimed at combating fraud and the high cost of living, as well as bolstering the industrial sector and rejuvenating struggling industrial units.
