OUTJO — The stage is set for the Kunene Regional Second Division Football League promotion playoffs, scheduled to take place this weekend at the Etoshapoort Stadium in Outjo. Twelve teams from five zones will vie for two spots in next season’s Kunene Football League (KFL) through a series of matches held over Saturday and Sunday.

According to Namibia Press Agency, the promotion playoffs will feature a mini-league format with the teams divided into four groups of three. Each group’s winner will progress to the Super Four round, where the finalists will secure their spots in the next KFL season. “The 12 teams have been divided into four groups of three teams each. The group winners will advance to the next round, known as the Super Four,” Nangombe explained.

Group A includes Gariseb Orlando from Khorixas, Kwaai Lappies from Outjo, and Bush Lovers, also from Khorixas. Group B features Epupa Zebra Stars and Golden Wolves from Opuwo, who return after missing the cut last season, along with Hotspring from Eupa and Chameleon from Sesfontein. Group C will see Pubs FC and Grootberg United, both from Outjo, alongside Aweh United, and Group D includes Zebra FC from Sesfontein, Six Computer Stars from Warmquelle, and Opuwo’s Golden Wolves.

The playoffs will kick off with several key matches on Saturday: Gariseb Orlando will face Bush Lovers in Group A; Epupa Zebra Stars will take on Chameleon in Group B; Pubs FC will test their mettle against Grootberg United in Group C; and in Group D, Golden Wolves will play against Zebra FC. Subsequent rounds will continue with matchups like Bush Lovers against Kwaai Lappies, and Chameleon versus Hotspring, with each team looking to secure a pivotal win to advance.

The intense weekend will conclude with the top teams from each group moving to the second round, setting the stage for a competitive showdown in the Super Four. This event not only promises thrilling football action but also significant opportunities for the teams to step up to the premier league of the region.
