Outapi’s Enhanced Municipal Services Promise Growth and Community Empowerment

OUTAPI—Minister of Urban and Rural Development Erastus Uutoni emphasized the transformative impact of municipal services at the infrastructure handover for the 2023/24 financial year in Outapi.

According to Namibia Press Agency, these services transcend basic infrastructure by empowering communities, enhancing resilience, and opening opportunities for growth.

During Wednesday’s ceremony, Uutoni highlighted that improved access to clean water is expected to bolster health and sanitation, while reliable electricity should expand educational and economic opportunities, thereby elevating overall living standards. “The journey of construction extends beyond laying pipes and cables. It encompasses fostering inclusivity, promoting social justice, and building a future where no one is left behind,” he articulated.

An investment of N$11 million, sourced from both the Ministry of Urban and Rural Development and the Outapi Town Council, has been carefully managed and strategically deployed to assure high-quality, affordable services across key areas. “This investment represents our steadfast commitment to strengthening community bonds and engendering lasting positive change,” Uutoni added.

Outapi Town Mayor Selma Asino detailed the financial collaboration that made these services possible: over N$7.4 million from Central Government and more than N$4 million from the Council’s own funds. Asino praised the partnership’s ability to meet the community’s growing needs and stressed the importance of residents taking ownership to safeguard these enhancements for future benefits.
