Zorgho — On October 24, 2023, civil engineer Ousmane Badolo was officially installed as the Provincial Director of Infrastructure and Accessibility (DPID) for the Ganzourgou province.
According to a new release by Burkina Information Agency, Mrs. Aminata Sorgho/Gouba, the ceremony took place in Zorgho and was attended by a large gathering of professional bodies, collaborators, and friends of both the incoming and outgoing directors.
Mr. Badolo succeeds Alidou Zoungrana, who held the position for more than four years. During the ceremony, staff representative of the provincial infrastructure directorate, Moumini Sinaré, commended the positive relationships that Mr. Zoungrana had maintained with staff and highlighted his accomplishments. These include the construction of over 265 km of rural roads, maintenance of nearly 280 km of existing roads, asphalting of more than 40 km of roads, and the construction of various infrastructure like crossing structures, classrooms, boreholes, and houses for young people and women.
Alidou Zoungrana, the outgoing director, thanked regional and provincial authorities for their support during his tenure. He also congratulated Mr. Badolo and urged authorities and colleagues to extend the same support to him.
In his remarks, Ousmane Badolo expressed gratitude to the highest authorities of the country, particularly the Minister of Infrastructure and Accessibility, for his appointment. He emphasized the strategic importance of maintaining road networks, particularly in a context of insecurity, to allow for effective operation of fighting forces. “The end of this war necessarily involves maintaining the road network in order to avoid areas favorable to the planting of explosive objects,” he stated.
Acknowledging the challenges ahead, Mr. Badolo sought the support of the regional infrastructure directorate, all key stakeholders in the province, and his direct collaborators to succeed in his mission. He also committed to preserving, if not improving upon, the achievements of his predecessor.
Sombasséré Sawadogo, the regional director in charge of infrastructures of the central plateau, and High Commissioner Sorgho both praised the work and dedication of the outgoing director. They encouraged the new director to exercise humility, listen attentively, and collaborate effectively with his team.
Mrs. Sorgho reiterated her availability and that of all constituted bodies to support the new director. Ousmane Badolo had been appointed to this position by the Council of Ministers on September 20, 2023.
