Oumarou Sawadogo Kicks Off Campaign for Burkinabè Football Federation Presidency

OUAGADOUGOU — Retired Colonel-Major Oumarou Sawadogo, the sole candidate for the presidency of the Burkinabè Football Federation (FBF), launched his electoral campaign with a press conference in Ouagadougou.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Sawadogo outlined his vision for Burkinabè football, encapsulated in the acronym CLARTE, which reflects the core values he aims to instill within the federation. These values include Collegiality, Loyalty, Ambition, Responsibility, Tolerance, and Engagement, designed to improve football’s governance and stakeholder engagement. Sawadogo’s campaign promises to enhance the governance structures, capacity building, infrastructure maintenance, and financial resource management of Burkinabè football.

The campaign, titled FREE FOOT, stands for Resilient, Emerging, and Excellent Football. Ousmane Boly, the campaign director for Sawadogo, emphasized the candidate’s qualifications, highlighting his dedication to consensus-building and stakeholder engagement as key attributes that make him suited for the presidency.

The campaign team plans to visit all 13 regions of Burkina Faso to garner support for Sawadogo’s policies and vision for football development in the country. The electoral campaign will span two weeks, concluding with the election on August 31.
