Oumarou Mogmenga Vows to Serve with Honor in Burkina Faso’s Media Regulatory Body

OUAGADOUGOU – In a solemn ceremony held on Wednesday, Oumarou Mogmenga took an oath before the Constitutional Council, committing to serve the Higher Council of Communication (CSC) with dignity and loyalty.



According to Burkina Information Agency, Mogmenga pledged his dedication during the swearing-in of nine CSC members, emphasizing his intent to perform his duties with independence, impartiality, and confidentiality. This event marks a significant moment in his career as he officially steps into his role within Burkina Faso’s principal regulatory body for media and communication.



“We will work to ensure that the spirit and letter of the oath we have just made are respected,” Mogmenga stated, reflecting on his responsibilities which include fostering freedom of expression and upholding professional ethics in both public and private media sectors.



The ceremony, which took place in the presence of five judges from the Constitutional Council in Ouagadougou, comes after Mogmenga’s appointment by the Council of Ministers on September 4, 2024. Barthélemy Kéré, President of the Constitutional Council, underscored the critical balance CSC members must maintain between safeguarding the right to information and ensuring national security and social cohesion.
