Oudtshoorn Operation Nets Unlicensed Firearms and Ammunition

OUDTSHOORN – A focused intelligence operation in Oudtshoorn has led to the seizure of firearms and ammunition, marking a victory for local law enforcement efforts.

According to South African Police Service (SAPS), on Thursday, 02 November 2023, members of Oudtshoorn Crime Prevention and Crime Intelligence acted on intelligence about illegal weapons. They conducted a search on Adderley Street and discovered a .22 rifle, a revolver, and a substantial cache of assorted ammunition stored in a safe.

A 61-year-old woman was arrested at the scene for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition. She was later released with a warning to appear before the Oudtshoorn Magistrates’ Court on the 16th of November 2023. The operation highlights the ongoing proactive measures being taken to curb the circulation of illegal firearms within the community.
