Oudalan: Communal School B won the final of the 2026 Primary School Sports, Culture and Leisure Organization (OSCLEP) competition for the Gorom-Gorom II Basic Education District (CEB) on Saturday, defeating Gorom East A 3-2 on penalties. In the girls' category, Gorom East B won the trophy, defeating Communal School B 1-0 on penalties.
According to Burkina Information Agency, in the boys' category, the final pitted Gorom Est A against Communale B. After a hard-fought match, Communale B won the trophy, winning 3-2 on penalties. In the girls' competition, the Gorom Est B team faced Communale B. After a hard-fought match that ended in a draw, the Gorom Est B players won the title in the penalty shootout, winning by 1 successful penalty to 0.
The Head of the Basic Education District (CCEB) of Gorom-Gorom II emphasized the essential role of sport and culture in the harmonious development of the child. 'Sport and culture are not mere entertainment. They constitute the cement of social cohesion, the mirror of our identity and the arena where discipline and respect for others are learned,' he said.
He expressed his gratitude to the president of the special delegation of the commune of Gorom-Gorom, Sibiri Neya, to the godmother Fayim Maga as well as to the godfather Mohamed Ag Rissa for their support and assistance in the organization of the event.
The event concluded with the presentation of awards to the various teams as well as to the winners of the cultural disciplines. Placed under the theme: "Sport and culture in schools: engine of unity, peace and resilience for a high-performing school in the CEB of Gorom-Gorom II", this edition mobilized students, teachers, parents of students as well as provincial and municipal authorities.
