Ouahigouya-The Feast of the Assumption was commemorated on Thursday at the Christ Roi de l’Univers cathedral parish in Ouahigouya, under the leadership of Bishop Justin Kientéga. The event, which traditionally draws together the Catholic community to honor the Virgin Mary, focused on prayers for peace and the return of displaced people to their communities in Burkina Faso. Due to security concerns, the festivities were confined to the cathedral grounds, instead of the usual gathering at the nearby Marian sanctuary of Saye.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the celebration served not only as a religious observance but also as a platform for fostering hope and humility among the faithful. He highlighted the importance of humility, as demonstrated by the Virgin Mary, and urged attendees, especially children, to express their devotion through daily prayers such as the rosary. The bishop’s message underscored the significance of spiritual guidance and community solidarity in facing the challenges within the region.
