Ouahigouya - In a demonstration of community support, listeners of all seven radio stations in Ouahigouya responded to a call by the transitional authorities and donated goods worth 2,169,250 CFA francs to the peace efforts in the Northern region. The donation ceremony took place on Monday at the headquarters of RTB2 North's regional management and was attended by Governor Issouf Ouédraogo, media managers, and other local dignitaries.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the donated items included bags of rice, corn flour, children's food, cooking oil, salt, soap, and other essential goods. The beneficiaries of the donation were widows and orphans of soldiers who had fallen in conflict areas. Oumarou Clément Ouédraogo, speaking on behalf of the radio managers, highlighted the contribution as part of the ongoing efforts to reclaim territory and supported those who have suffered losses in the conflict. Governor Ouédraogo praised the solidarity shown by the community and emphasized the crucial role played by radio stations in maintaining the flow of information and supporting government anti-terrorism efforts.
The event, which was also attended by Boukari Nitièma, a representative of the Minister of State and Minister of Communication, underscored the community's commitment to fostering peace and resilience amidst ongoing security challenges.
