In Ouahigouya, the MPSR2 support committee extolled the accomplishments realized during the one-year tenure of Captain Ibrahim Traoré’s presidency at a press conference on Friday. The committee also emphasized the critical role of youth in safeguarding the Transition, cautioning that its fall would have devastating consequences.

According to News Releases by Burkina Information News Agency, Souleymane Bayiri, the general coordinator of the MPSR2 support committee, stated that significant progress has been made in counter-terrorism efforts. He noted that the Burkinabè army had gained an advantage over terrorists due to the procurement of adequate weaponry. Mr. Bayiri also pointed to MPSR2 initiatives, such as APEC, aimed at job creation, and the committee’s call for public contributions to the war effort.

Souleymane Bayiri welcomed the reduction in government salaries and urged the youth to support the military leadership, which he views as the people’s hope. “The fall of this regime will be worse than a tsunami, an earthquake,” he warned. Additionally, he cautioned the youth about the perils of foreign aid, equating it to imperialist domination. Bayiri further criticized imported democracy and biased elections, favoring the revolutionary regimes of Presidents Thomas Sankara and Ibrahim Traoré. He clarified that the MPSR2 transition support committee was established on October 1, 2022, a day after coming to power.
