Ouahigouya Initiates Community Shareholding Subscription in Northern Region

Ouagadougou - the Northern Region's Governor, Issouf Ouédraogo, inaugurated community entrepreneurship underwriting activities on January 12, 2024. This move is part of a broader initiative aimed at fostering widespread support and engagement among the region's residents.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the initiative, titled 'Popular shareholding for endogenous and inclusive development,' seeks to educate and engage the regional population in community entrepreneurship programs. Launched on January 12, the initiative aligns with the vision of endogenous and inclusive development advocated by the President of the Transition, Captain Ibrahim Traoré. The president's vision is to finance significant projects using purely endogenous resources, with success dependent on the active participation and mobilization of all Burkinabè people.

During a session that lasted over two hours, key officials from the Agency for the Promotion of Community Entrepreneurship (APEC) and the cooperative society 'Building the Future' outlined the initiative's various missions. Karim Traoré, APEC's Director General, expressed satisfaction at the robust turnout, indicating strong public interest in the initiative.

Highlighting the enthusiasm in the Northern region for supporting the presidential community entrepreneurship initiative, Traoré emphasized the importance of the region's role in national development projects and programs. Governor Ouédraogo, applauding this mobilization, encouraged all local residents to actively participate to ensure the project's success for the community's benefit.

The report also recalls that the national subscription activities were first launched by the Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, in Ouagadougou on June 12, 2023. This was followed by the groundbreaking ceremony for the tomato processing factory in Bobo-Dioulasso in September 2023.
