Ouagadougou Residents Hope for Peaceful Future Amid New Year’s Celebrations

OUAGADOUGOU: Inhabitants of Ouagadougou celebrated New Year’s Eve with a hopeful outlook, expressing wishes for a return to peace in Burkina Faso, seen as vital for the nation’s development. Gatherings in districts 9 and 4 highlighted the community’s collective desire for stability as they welcomed 2025.



According to Burkina Information Agency, residents of the Pazani and Tanghin neighborhoods, celebrated New Year’s Eve by gathering in local maquis, bars, and public spaces. Despite the festive atmosphere, many acknowledged the ongoing challenges faced by the country. Samuel Kabor©, present at Pazani’s bar, observed that the celebrations were somewhat subdued, attributing this to the prevailing security issues.



Local residents expressed hopes for peace and security in the coming year. Adama Ou©draogo, a butcher, called on the Burkinabe population to support President Captain Ibrahim Traor© in combating terrorism. Health professionals, including nurse Jean Paul Tambi Sawadogo and midwife €š¬…¡¬°lise Sawadogo, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the need for civic engagement and hard work to aid national development.



Abdoul Moutalib Ilboudo, a fish seller, shared his desire for the country to overcome its current difficulties and regain peace. Meanwhile, Hamidou Sawadogo, a maquis manager, extended wishes for health and success to his fellow citizens, expressing hope for a peaceful future in Burkina Faso.
