OUAGADOUGOU — On Saturday, parking managers in Ouagadougou established the Coordination of Professional Organizations of Kadiogo Parking Lot Managers (COPGP/K), aiming to improve the management and security of parked vehicles and motorcycles. This new organization was founded in response to ongoing challenges in the parking sector, including theft and loss of vehicles.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the president of the newly formed coordination, the group’s creation came from a collective recognition of the need for better organization and structure within the parking management sector. “Car park managers have always had difficulties in managing car park affairs. In this sense, we told ourselves that there is a need to organize ourselves to bring order to the sector,” Barry stated following the general assembly.

The COPGP/K, which consists of 24 members, is tasked with enhancing the security measures in parking facilities throughout the Central region. Barry elaborated that the organization would legally support managers and their clients in cases of theft or loss, facilitating interactions with relevant authorities to address such issues.

Barry also expressed confidence that the establishment of this office would lead to significant improvements in how parking lots are managed, ensuring that customers receive compensation for any damages incurred. He highlighted that the immediate priority for the coordination is to draft statutory documents necessary to formalize its operations officially.

Tassambédo Pamoussa, the representative of the minister in charge of trade, praised the initiative. He noted that the establishment of the COPGP/K would contribute positively to the structure and professionalism of the parking sector. Pamoussa also urged parking lot managers to uphold consumer rights and adhere to pricing guidelines set by the ministry, emphasizing the importance of professionalism and patriotism in their operations.
