Ouagadougou Hosts Guillaume Soro in Meeting with Transitional President

Ouagadougou – Captain Ibrahim Traore, President of the Transition and Head of State in Burkina Faso, hosted Guillaume Kigbafori Soro, former Prime Minister and former President of the National Assembly of Côte d’Ivoire, in an audience this Tuesday. Soro, a prominent figure in Ivorian politics, expressed significant emotion upon his return to the African continent after five years of exile.

According to Burkina Information Agency, his return to Burkina Faso, especially under a military government, was noteworthy given that previous democratically elected governments had denied him entry as a West African citizen. He expressed his gratitude towards the people of Burkina Faso for this opportunity.

During his meeting with President Traore, Soro commended the President’s comprehensive understanding of sub-regional issues. He noted that he received valuable advice from the Head of State on the importance of fostering peace and reconciliation in the sub-region.

Soro also praised the leadership of Burkina Faso, describing it as “enlightened,” and lauded the government and people of Burkina Faso for their resilience in combating armed terrorist groups. He emphasized the significance of Burkina Faso’s ongoing battle against terrorism within the country.
