Ouagadougou Hosts 4th ‘Translog Africa’ International Symposium on Transport and Logistics

Ouagadougou – Over 200 attendees are expected at the 4th international ‘Translog Africa’ symposium on transport and logistics, which is set to take place from February 27 to 29, 2024, in Ouagadougou, as announced by the Minister of Transport, Urban Mobility and Road Safety, Anûuyirtole Roland Somda.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the public television broadcaster, the symposium will gather participants from public administrations, the private sector, sub-regional organizations, and technical and financial partners. “We are expecting more than 200 guests at this symposium,” Somda emphasized, highlighting the diverse representation anticipated at the event.

The minister further elaborated that the 4th edition of ‘Translog Africa’ will primarily explore the challenges and opportunities for the development of the global logistics chain for shippers in the era of the African Continental Free Trade Zone (Zlecaf). The event aims to address pivotal issues facing the transport and logistics sector within the continent, fostering discussions on enhancing the efficiency and connectivity of Africa’s logistics networks.

The symposium, which was last held in 2012, has seen delays due to various global challenges, including the Ebola epidemic, political changes, and the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite Burkina Faso’s withdrawal from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the country remains engaged with the international community through its involvement in initiatives such as the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA), the Community of Sahel-Saharan States (CEN-SAD), and the African Continental Free Trade Area (Zlecaf).
