Ouagadougou Association Empowers Nearly 200 Through Entrepreneurship Training

OUAGADOUGOU — The Association of Women Committed to the Fatherland (AFEP) hosted an entrepreneurship training session for nearly 200 women and young people on Thursday at the town hall of District No. 8 in Ouagadougou. The event aimed to boost financial empowerment and foster an entrepreneurial spirit among attendees.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the AFEP coordinator, the training was designed to ignite entrepreneurial interests and equip participants with the tools needed to start or enhance their businesses. Ilboudo/Cissé highlighted the session's focus on introducing participants to microfinance opportunities, a crucial element for sustaining and growing business ventures. "This training aims to stimulate the entrepreneurial spirit of the participants and provide the necessary tools for the creation or consolidation of already existing businesses," she explained.

The training, supported by the Ministry in charge of Youth, featured experts Rabbi Paul Ouédraogo and Sidiki Korgo who offered guidance on managing entrepreneurship and achieving business success. The trainers emphasized the importance of innovation, excellence in service and product offerings, and the willingness to take risks—key aspects of successful entrepreneurial endeavors.

Alidou Congo, the president of the special delegation of District No. 8, praised AFEP for its efforts and encouraged the trainees to pursue their entrepreneurial goals. "Undertake and succeed," Congo remarked during the ceremony, which also saw participants receiving certificates of completion in the presence of a representative from the Ministry in charge of Youth.

This initiative underscores AFEP's ongoing commitment to enhancing the economic and social development of Burkina Faso through the empowerment of women and youth.
