Otjiungukua Teams Triumph in Nanaki Kandjii Cup at Okomukaru

Windhoek, Namibia – In a show of sportsmanship and skill, the Otjiungukua netball and football teams emerged victorious in the Nanaki Kandjii Cup, held at Okomukaru. The tournament, which spanned from Saturday to Monday, was organized in tribute to the late Nanaki Kandjii, former president of the Omongua Netball and Football Association.

According to Namibia Press Agency (NAMPA), the event’s organizer, spoke to Nampa on Tuesday about the successful completion of the tournament and the honoring of Kandjii’s significant contributions to the association. The football category saw over 40 teams competing, but it was Otjiungukua Football Club that clinched the title, defeating Gauteng FC with a score of 1-0.

In the netball segment, the Otjiungukua team showcased their prowess by beating Ombero with a 16-10 score in the semi-finals. They continued their winning streak in the finals, securing a 24-21 victory over the Four Stars team from Omitivine. Four Stars had previously defeated Kajalami 36-18 to reach the final.

The rewards for the triumphant teams were substantial. Otjiungukua’s netball team was awarded N.dollars 5,000 and a trophy for their victory, while Four Stars, as runners-up, received N.dollars 2,500. The semi-finalists Ombero and Kajalami netball teams each received N.dollars 1,250. In the football category, Otjiungukua FC received N.dollars 11,000 and a trophy for their win, with Gauteng FC, as runners-up, taking home N.dollars 6,500. Otjituve FC and Otjeue City FC, the losing semi-finalists, were each awarded N.dollars 3,500.
