Oshikoto: The regional electoral officer of Oshikoto, Ester Hipangelwa, has revealed that young people dominated the voting demographic in the region for the Regional Councils and Local Authorities Elections that took place on Wednesday.
According to Namibia Press Agency, Hipangelwa observed a significant turnout of young voters, indicating a strong eagerness to participate, particularly in the local authorities elections. She noted that following the closure of the polls, the official counting process would begin.
Hipangelwa mentioned that the voting process proceeded smoothly with no major issues, except for some eligible voters arriving with old, invalid voter cards. She explained that after the completion of the counting and verification of votes, results would be displayed at respective polling points and then officials would proceed to the collation centre for the announcement of results.
Polling stations were scheduled to close by 21h00.
