Oshikoto NamPol Deploy 158 Trainees

Oshikoto: A total of 158 Namibian Police Force trainees were deployed to various police stations throughout the Oshikoto Region on Monday. The internship programme is designed to equip trainees with valuable hands-on practical policing experience in real operational environments.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Oshikoto Regional Police Commander, Commissioner Ndafudha Iifo stated that the 158 cadet constables-received from three training centres-comprise 99 males and 59 females. They have been assigned to the Work Integrated Learning Programme, effective from March 2026 through to May 2026.

These trainees, drawn from last year's recruitment intake, will support essential station duties. Their responsibilities include providing customer care services, mastering radio voice procedures, handling charge office tasks, managing police cells, conducting crime investigations, enforcing traffic laws, engaging in crime prevention activities, and participating in community policing efforts.

The cadets have been placed at designated A-class and B-class police stations, namely Tsumeb, Omuthiya, Nomtsoub, Oshivelo, Okatope, and Onethindi. Iifo stressed that the cadets will receive ongoing supervision from competent and experienced tutors, who will guide them systematically through all core policing areas.

'Trainees are strongly encouraged to approach this programme with seriousness, to uphold discipline at all times, and to treat these lessons as crucial building blocks for their police careers. They should never hesitate to ask their tutors questions whenever they need assistance or further clarity,' she said. The internship plays a vital role in bridging the gap between theoretical training and real-world policing.
