ONDANGWA — Namibia Police Force (NamPol) leadership in the Oshana Region emphasized the importance of lawful business operations during a community meeting with local entrepreneurs. Commissioner Naftal Lungameni Sakaria addressed the gathering in Ondangwa, focusing on adherence to licensing and orderly conduct in business activities.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Commissioner Sakaria highlighted the specific challenges associated with shebeens, clubs, and gambling houses, noting that disturbances often arise from these venues. The meeting aimed to discuss strategies for mitigating such issues, ensuring businesses operate within the legal framework without undue interference. “We are not here trying to limit anyone’s livelihood,” Sakaria assured, underscoring the dual objectives of enabling trade and maintaining public order.

Further discussions detailed the processes for obtaining necessary operating licenses, reinforcing the police’s role in fostering a safe trading environment. Commissioner Sakaria also acknowledged the significant impact of small businesses on the regional economy, advocating for a balance between entrepreneurial activity and the imperative of law and order.

In a related development, Ondangwa Chief Executive Officer, Ismael Namgongo, called on business owners to fulfill their responsibilities towards municipal obligations promptly. Namgongo’s remarks stressed the critical nature of financial contributions to local governance, which facilitate infrastructural and economic progress within the community. He emphasized the council’s commitment to creating a supportive environment for business growth, which hinges on the collective efforts of the town’s stakeholders to ensure security and prosperity.
