Oshakati: Oshana Regional Governor, Hofni Iipinge, officially announced the programme for this year's regional Independence Day celebrations set to take place at the Independence Stadium in Oshakati on 21 March 2026. Iipinge stated that his office has been tasked by the central government to organize the event, where residents of the 11 constituencies have been invited to attend. According to Namibia Press Agency, transport to the celebrations from the various constituencies will be provided by the constituency councillors as well as the three local authority councils, namely Ondangwa, Ongwediva, and Oshakati. Meals will also be provided. Governor Iipinge emphasized the importance of keeping history alive and educating the young generation about the significance of celebrating independence, reminding them of the struggles endured before the country's independence was achieved. The program will feature a parade and march by the Namibian Defence Force, multi-cultural entertainment, choreography, and participa tion from learners at Eluwa Special School. The celebrations will also include a keynote address by Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare.
