Oshakati Town Council Issues Alert on Scam Activities

Oshakati — The Oshakati Town Council has issued a warning to residents about scammers posing as council representatives to solicit money, ostensibly for bid awards or plot allocations.

According to Namibia Press Agency, Katarina Kamari, the spokesperson for the town council, emphasized that these fraudsters are contacting residents, attempting to extract payments under false pretenses. "Residents should note that council does not ask for any form of payment or funds over the phone. If you receive any suspicious calls or messages claiming to be from the council, do not engage," Kamari stated. She stressed the importance of reporting any dubious contacts to the Oshakati Town Council or the nearest police station immediately.

Kamari also urged the community to stay vigilant and verify the authenticity of any unusual or questionable communications purportedly from the council to protect themselves from potential fraud.
