OSHAKATI — The FirstRand Namibia Foundation Trust has donated a hemodialysis catheter valued at N$110,515 to the Oshakati Intermediate Hospital, enhancing the facility’s capacity to treat patients with end-stage kidney disease. This donation is part of a broader effort to support health services in Namibia.
According to Namibia Press Agency, During the handover ceremony, FNB Far North Area Manager Abongile Mpikwa emphasized the significance of the catheter in kidney replacement therapy, noting its role as a critical bridge to long-term vascular access solutions. Mpikwa also highlighted the foundation’s ongoing commitment to health and community services, with investments totaling N$30 million over the past decade aimed at improving health outcomes and quality of life across Namibia.
Oshakati Intermediate Hospital Superintendent Robert Kanime acknowledged the timely nature of the donation, pointing out the hospital’s urgent need for such medical equipment due to increasing cases of kidney failure. Kanime stated that the donated catheter would help maintain the essential delivery of dialysis treatments and significantly impact the health and well-being of many patients who depend on these life-saving procedures.
