Sourgou: The closing ceremony of the sports and cultural activities took place on the municipal grounds in the presence of the head of the Basic Education District (CCEB) of the commune and the head of the canton of Sourgou. Authorities, representatives of the military and paramilitary forces, parents of students, and students attended the women’s and men’s football finals.
According to Burkina Information Agency, in women’s football, the Ouoro Public Primary School (EPP) won against the EPP Sourgou A with a score of 4-2 after the penalty shootout.
The men’s final pitted EPP Ouettin against Sourgou A. The former showed more determination than the latter during the penalty shootout. Indeed, despite being the first to open the scoring in the second half, Ouettin’s team had to submit to this test after Sourgou A equalized.
Besides football, the festivities included a variety of cultural activities such as traditional dances, a parade of the different CEB schools, and taekwondo demonstrations, which dazzled the audience present.
Naaba ZIIRI, head of the canton of Sourgou, expressed his admiration for the educational stakeholders, stating: “It is a satisfaction, a joy, and a pride to see the success of this activity.” He also thanked the sponsor of the ceremony, Dr. Seydou BOUDA, as well as all those who contributed to the success of this event.
For her part, Ms. NAGNON/NION Kabouga, CCEB, also expressed her delight at the enthusiasm generated by the activities. She emphasized that the students’ level of play was an excellent sign of their mastery of the fundamental principles of football.
This event was therefore a celebration of sport and culture, demonstrating the energy and community spirit of the CEB schools in Sourgou.
