Oronkua School Council Prepares for Artistic and Cultural Month Initiative

Oronkua: Members of the municipal education council and school council officials from Oronkua gathered on Friday, April 17, 2026, for a meeting chaired by Nib¨balaon Dabire, the Head of the Basic Education District (CEB) of Oronkua. The session was aimed at preparing for the upcoming Artistic and Cultural Month (MAC), an initiative designed to enhance the educational experience through arts and culture.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting, held in the town hall's meeting room, was organized to help education stakeholders comprehend the innovative program planned for the last thirty days of the school year. The Artistic and Cultural Month is an initiative by the Ministry of Basic Education. During the meeting, participants were introduced to the MAC framework document, which outlines the program's objectives and implementation strategies.

Organizers highlighted that the program aims to promote the arts, celebrate local cultures, and transmit indigenous knowledge to students, aligning with broader efforts to reinforce cultural identity within Burkinabe schools. The discussions focused on clarifying the roles of school councils, including raising community awareness, identifying local cultural resources, providing logistical support, and organizing cultural outings.

Despite acknowledging the initiative's significance, some attendees expressed concerns about student supervision, the practical organization of activities, and the involvement of stakeholders without specific financial backing. These issues were addressed during the meeting, providing satisfactory responses to the participants.

Concluding the session, school council presidents committed to spreading information within their communities and actively engaging in the implementation of the arts and culture month. Nib¨balaon Dabire, the CCEB of Oronkua, expressed gratitude to the participants for their dedication and support in ensuring the success of this innovative student program.
